the thing we teased last month is out. it's the biggest thing we've shipped since filtered funds themselves.

here's the 60 second recap:

build your own fund 🎉

custom funds are live for everyone. hand-pick individual stocks, set exact target weights, and Amal treats it like any other fund: automatic dividend reinvestment, scheduled investing, rebalancing, the works.

how it works:

• a guided builder at /funds/create — name your fund, pick a starting point, add stocks, set weights
• every save is checked against compliance ratings and your personal blacklist, so you can't accidentally build yourself a haram fund
• if a stock you picked later goes non-compliant, we notify you instead of auto-selling — it's your fund, so the call is yours (your filtered catalog funds keep their automatic removal, nothing changes there)

pricing is simple: building is free, investing is Pro. design, edit, copy, and share as many funds as you like on any plan — the upgrade only kicks in when you put new money in. selling and rebalancing are never gated, so nobody can ever be trapped in a position.

share your fund with a link 🔗

every custom fund gets a public share page: performance charted against a benchmark (SPY by default), allocation and sector breakdowns, and compliance badges on every holding. anyone with the link can copy your fund into their own account in one click.

two details we sweated:

• the returns shown are anchored to the date the fund was created — not a cherry-picked backtest window. if your fund is two weeks old, it shows two weeks
• links unfurl properly when you share them — each fund gets its own social card with its name and performance

compare your funds against… anything 📊

fund charts (and the home portfolio chart) now have a Compare option: overlay the original unfiltered fund, SPY / QQQ / VTI, or any fund in the catalog — several at once if you like. selecting a comparison switches the chart to percent-change mode so different price levels stay comparable, and your invested-amount line stays as a toggleable overlay so portfolio vs cost basis never disappears.

"how much did halal filtering actually cost me vs SPY?" is now a two-click question.

orders in flight, finally visible ⏳

an uncomfortable stat from our own data: a third of manual orders in June sat 5–30+ minutes between click and fill, and in that window the app showed nothing. cash undeducted, no position change, no activity entry. more than one of you concluded your money had vanished. fair.

now the dashboard has an In Progress card showing your pending and executing orders live, and your available-cash line shows the slice that queued buys are about to spend. when an order completes, cash and positions update in the same moment it leaves the list.

closed positions, on purpose this time 👋

back in May we fixed liquidated positions that wouldn't leave your holdings list. turns out you sometimes want to see them again — so fund details now have a collapsed Closed positions section: everything you've fully exited, with close dates and realized P&L. your live holdings stay clean, and the numbers are right there when Zakat season comes around.

small but sharp 🔪

• edited your custom fund's holdings? you'll get prompted to rebalance so your actual positions catch up to your new targets
• scheduled rebalances now say "Rebalance" instead of a confusing "$0"
• fund holdings tables scroll horizontally on mobile instead of clipping
• if you've added Amal to your home screen: the back button now stays inside the app instead of dumping you back to wherever you came from, and stale cached pages are gone
• TCAI joined the fund catalog — you can now build a filtered fund from it
• password changes are now throttled, and we hardened the encryption on stored broker credentials
